Ground Zero

Description

The Event refers to a catastrophic, unexplained disaster that occurred on the island of Lamang, forever altering part of its landscape. Official reports vaguely label it an environmental disaster, but the truth remains shrouded in mystery. Theories range from a volcanic eruption to chemical or nuclear accidents, satellite crashes, secret experiments gone wrong, or even alien involvement.

• Mass panic erupted among the population.
• The UN evacuated most civilians and personnel via the UNLRA.
• The affected zone, now known as Ground Zero, was quarantined and abandoned by international authorities.
• The Lamang Armed Forces remained behind to guard key sites

The island became a lawless zone, drawing in criminal groups, pirates, and Private Military Companies (PMCs) hired by powerful interests to secure Ground Zero.

However, the PMCs suffered devastating losses from mysterious, well-coordinated attacks, losing much of their territory. This triggered the recruitment of new mercenaries—the player among them—tasked with reclaiming Ground Zero, uncovering the truth behind the Event, and serving the interests of their chosen PMC.
